Hello and welcome! My name is Maeve , and I am excited to share my experiences working as a children’s librarian. I am in my last semester of my masters program, and am looking forward to graduating and becoming a children’s librarian. I currently work in two different libraries; I work as a youth services para-professional and a youth services intern.
I love working as a librarian because I get to inspire the love of reading, learning, and imagination in children. It’s so wonderful to be able to talk to a child about their favorite book, what they liked about it, and what they are excited to read about next.
While I was making my career decisions, I read many blogs about youth services librarians (Abby the Librarian’s A Day in the Life of a Children’s Librarian is amazing) and the work that they did. These blogs helped me make an enormous decision, and since then I have frequently visited librarian blogs to learn more about the field, issues and trends, program ideas, display ideas, reader’s advisory, and so much more. I hope that my blog will be able to inspire other future librarians and connect them with the information that they need to be awesome. (:
When I am not working, I love rock climbing, dancing, playing ultimate frisbee, backpacking, hiking, and, of course, reading!
