Thoughts

We had a bigger crowd today, and it was great! The kids really participated in all the songs, which I loved. (: I was also really happy that they were interested in Fawns. I don’t normally use non-fiction books in story time, so I was just trying it out. But I will definitely be doing it more often!

Small crowd, but there were some regulars. It was great to see them recognizing the songs and singing along! (:
The felt story was great for this age. We worked on our counting, and talked about the different colors…and which was our favorite!

Thoughts

Another small crowd due to cold weather, but it worked out perfectly. The book Plant the Tiny Seed worked well with the small crowd, since the children were able to come close to the book to see everything. I would not have used that book with more than 3 children, since it would get too crowded.

Thoughts

It was quite cold, so there was a smaller crowd today. And they were very young…so The Barefoot Book of Children was a bit much. I should have read a different book, but I thought I could make it work. I ended up skipping many sections and only reading some of the pages. I also had enough time to read one of my back-up books, so I read Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes.

Flannel Story: Baby Faces

This is a great flannel that I found Mel’s Desk. She has another rhyme that she posted on her website, but I just used the two listed here.

To make these, I ended up making a Microsoft Publisher page with shapes for the face, eyes, and mouths. That way they were pretty similar in size.

I had a great crowd for today’s story time. Everyone participated in the songs and were attentive to the stories. This was my first time using a prop during this story time, and I think I will continue to do it…they loved it! (:
