Thoughts

I used the ASL sign for “bee” in the Bumblebee, Bumblebee song, and everyone picked it up quickly! I was also able to use it in some of the later songs and In the Tall, Tall Grass, and people remembered it then, too.

A note about the books, I skipped a lot of pages and words in When Spring Comes. I used it mainly for the pictures and talked about spring arrivals.

Something in My Garden

Something in My Garden

something in my garden

There’s something in my garden.
Now what can it be?
There’s something in my garden.
That I really can’t see.

Hear it’s funny sound…

Chirp, chirp, chirp. A bird is what I found!
Hiss, hiss, hiss. A snake is what I found!
Squeak, squeak, squeak. A mouse is what I found!
Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit. A frog is what I found!
Thump, thump, thump. A rabbit is what I found!

Thoughts

I tried to do an “interactive” felt board this week. Each child was given a bicycle and they were told to bring their bicycle up and place it on the felt board when their color was called. It did not go very well. Children didn’t want to leave their felt after they had placed it on the board, so other children couldn’t put their felt up. I had to take felts off to make room for others, so children were sad that their felts were taken off…there were a lot of issues!! I might try this again with older children and with a smaller crowd, but for this group…I probably won’t do it again.

Thoughts

For all three books, I skipped some sections to shorten them down to a reasonable length for this story time.
Also, I was gone on vacation last week, and it was so sweet to have all the caregivers tell me that their child missed me and noticed I was missing. One girl even came up to give me a hug! It made my heart quite happy.
